First day of FIT

I remember being such a naive freshman on my first day. Using the hashtag #socollege on my Snapchat story as I walked to class. I had my bag with every material I thought I needed, a snack in case I got hungry, and my lanyard with my keys around my neck. My god, why did I wear my lanyard on my neck? Classic freshman mistake. My first class was History of Design with Angela. I cannot remember her last name, only that I despised her after pouring my heart out on my paper and her giving me a flat B.

Following that class, I would go on to have one of my most memorable professors: Kathy Olen. She was crazy, energetic, and a force to be reckoned with. I remember sitting next to my would-be friend, Eunice, and the two of us had never touched Adobe Illustrator before in our lives. The sheer panic of not knowing what was going on, especially on our first day, is the equivalent of checking your pockets for your phone and it not being there. I would go on to have Professor Olen two more times, and although every semester I felt like I had no idea what I was doing, in the end, I had actually learned a lot. Although stressful during the time, I would not have learned photoshop and illustrator in such a unique and engaging way.
